Any Home Theater subwoofer recommendations? Since I will be forking out so much on the receiver I was looking at a Polk PSW10 or Sony SA-W2500. Maybe even a Polk PSW125. I'm not sure what they would do in my large den area. |

I'm not sure of what's available these days. If you get a box and an amp, I have a 15" subwoofer from my Audiosource box. The amp went out a few months ago so I swapped out the amp for a slightly bigger one and the sub for a stronger one also. I believe the amp you'd want for it is a 150-watt.
Anyway, Polk stuff is generally good from what I've been able to see. Between the two items you listed I think I'd go with it. (For what it's worth - I'm not really knowledgeable on which really sounds better.) |

I went to Bestbuy and listened to both of them. The Polk is way better. Now I'm bent between the Polk PSW10 and PSW110. The 10 (100W)has a forward firing port hole while the more powerful 110(200W)has a downward firing port. Would I be safer with getting the downward firing port, as to avoid port noise, or would the carpet cause it to drain the sound? |

I can't speak as to the effectiveness of the 200 watt model, but I have the 100 watt model in my large-ish living room, and it sounds amazing.

Yeah I don't think the port noise will matter one way or the other unless you crank it up farther than it should be cranked. I'd make the choice based on how it sounds. Are you able to test both of those in the store also?
I'd go with Mike on this also and get it online. Looks like Amazon has a PSW110 for $150. Also, just to clarify, it looks like the PSW110 is the 100 watt model and the PSW10 is the 50 watt model. |

If you mean 50W and 100W RMS then you are correct. Of course they advertise them showing peak watts. I think I will be getting the 110 and if it goes on sale I will get the difference or if I find an awesome deal online I will return it within 30 days. |
