Today, the NSA has PRISM. In the 1960s, it had STRETCH. Also known as the IBM 7030, STRETCH was the supercomputer of its day, running at speeds 25 times faster than the typical machines of the day. It made its debut in 1961 at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where it was used to perform massive nuclear-power and nuclear-weapons simulations, and a year later, the National Security received a customized version known as IBM 7950 Harvest, using the multi-million dollar machine as part of its cryptography operations. <div class='mf-viral'><table border='0'><tr><td valign='middle'> </td></tr></table></div><br/><br/>
