Just got it today. Thus far...

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but is good at what it does. It sports the new SiRFstar III chip set for faster satellite linking. From what I have found out Mio is a fairly new company, founded in 2002, so the support may be lacking. I'll find out when I give them a call tomorrow to see if they have any map updates. The maps are stored on the 1G SD card.

We will see what it does tomorrow when I head up to HoT's.

Map upgrades will be available for purchase in the fall according to Mio. I believe the unit did an awesome job this weekend. The only time I had a problem was with a part of the route it wanted me to take on the way to HoT's, but a recalculation quickly got me happy. Satellite signal is picked up very quickly(10-20 seconds). HoT can vouch for the great functionality of this GPS.

Yes, I can. I think it has pretty much every feature that you'd want in a GPS, plus it's very smooth with updating and can receive satellites better than any GPS I've seen. He had it picking up satellites inside the first floor of my 3 floor home. That's something that no GPS I've used could do.

Hey man, I liked yours so much that I went to buy one also, as it's still on sale at Circuit City for 179.99 (At Best Buy it was 250 still). I have it in my car now, and I love the thing. I just turn it on, and in about 20 seconds it picks up the satellite signals and starts tracking. The night colors look awesome next to my gauges also (blue, red, and black). I think I'm going to work on making a cable to put into my car permanently to connect it with sometime. I'll need to study some to see what is needed, or maybe I'll just buy another cable like the one that came with it and then jury-rig it. We'll see. Anyhow, if anyone has been seeing those GPS's in the stores but didn't want to get it because of the price, get this one. It's pretty darned awesome.

I also think I'm going to set up a headphone cable for it to connect to my stereo so that I can hear the instructions loudly and clearly as I'm driving since my car is very loud and the instructions aren't that loud.

Anyhow, thanks for discovering this for us, AthLonWiReZ

No problem. I hardwired my radar detector under the dash using the DSM CD to find the cig. lighter wiring diagram. I just tapped into the wire coming out of the harness. I believe it's green with a white tracer. Be sure you look at the diagram though, there are other green with white tracers on the same distribution block. The only thing you will need to do is install an inline fuse as well. The Mio's stock car jack is 5V 1amp if I'm not mistaken.

I agree the only downside is the volume, but for people with normal quiet cars it should be no problem.
