Hey guys, anyone who has info about LAN Parties, please post here.. I'd like for all my friends to have a heads up for these events so that we can get large crowds together, possibly teams so that we can tear it up at these events. |

going as a team is awesome it brings me back to the rolerblading days from my youth and we would drive for hours to tear it up at distant roler scating rings |

Yeah, it's the same kind of idea for this stuff. Unfortunately, in the year that we've had this up, we haven't really had anything of the sort happen. What makes it worse is that when we go to the local lan parties, the people that aren't in their 'clan' are ostracized, with the explanation being that not being ostracized is a 'benefit' of being a member.. That kind of s**t makes me not want to be a member at all, nor to come to any more lan parties. Unfortunately, I still go for some reason. The parties that I like the most are the ones that are in Charlotte, because those guys seem to be open and nice to everyone that comes, instead of trying to rule the party oppressively like these guys seem to. |

Yeah HoT, the teams last time really did suck. Team picking is a difficult problem to approach. When you have a clan [tag] in which all the guys have practiced together and want to play together [usually in two teams of 5] and then you have guys come in with a team of three, not in a team, or a team of six... it makes it hard to meet everyones desires. We have had the options to do it in a middle school dodgeball kind of way, [leaders picking teams], a randomized sort of way via a program that Fancypants made, or trying to do the whole team thing with uneven teams. I really hate that it turned out the way it did last time, alot of people were pissed cuz we spent like an hour getting teams organized each time. This coming event, i believe the plan is to have sign up sheets at the door so people can sign in a team of 5 [or whatever the event calls for], sign in as alone, or sign in the group of friends that they want to play in. the odd people without teams will be put into whatever is neccesary to make the tourney work. as far as the guys in charlotte are concerned, they put together a great LAN, but they usually have the teams randomized, or this half of the room vs that half. we are trying to avoid that approach, with the possible exception of the halves in BF2 and similar games. I am going to the board meeting this coming friday, and i will let you know for certain what the plans are then. |
